报告摘要:
In this talk, I will discuss the challenges of implementing secure memory in future computing systems. The main focus of the talk is discussing the incompatibility of the current secure memory implementations with emerging non-volatile memories (NVMs). Such challenges include hours of recovery time, recovery failure, high performance overheads, and significant reduction in NVM lifetime. I will also discuss our approaches to enable recovery of secure NVMs (Osiris, MICRO’18) and how we could reduce recovery time from many hours to less than a second (Anubis, ISCA’19). Finally, I will conclude our contributions with highlighting the major challenges we foresee for emerging technologies and potential research directions.
主讲人简介:
Dr. Amro Awad is currently an assistant professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he leads the Secure and Advanced Computer Architecture (SACA) research group. Dr. Awad is the inventor of major contributions in secure and non-volatile memory (NVM) architectures such as Anubis (ISCA’19), TriadNVM (ISCA’19), Osiris (MICRO’18), ObfusMem (ISCA’17), TLB Pinning (ICS’16), Silent Shredder (ASPLOS’16), NVMe Write Pinning (ICS’16) and STM (HPCA’14). Before joining UCF, he had several stints at Sandia National Labs, AMD Research, HP Labs and Los Alamos National Lab. Currently, his team's efforts are focused on secure hardware architecture, design of processors for safety-critical systems, and the security of emerging technologies and architectures. His group actively publishes in the most prestigious and competitive computer architecture conferences and journals.
